“Hyper Broom ‘08”

This project intends to increase the awareness about the environment through creating a fun and competitive way to clean up and maintain the garbage in their city.
It will involve a club and website about the environment and garbage, training on the same subject, involving approximately 700 students and a clean-up event with 300 teenagers from schools all over Bandung. During the clean-up event teams will be given plastic bags to fill with trash, for each bag they fill they will have a trivia question to answer, if they answer correctly they will receive a point. The team with the most points wins.
“Smile ‘N Full”

The goals of this project are to collect food and clothing for poor people in their region. They intend to provide one meal or set of clothes for at least 200 people. They will achieve this goal by purchasing food and clothing as well as setting up places for people to donate these items.
They hope that this project can become a permanent organization in their area to provide food and clothing for the poor.
“English Vocabulary Posters”

The goals of this project are to increase the English language abilities of the students in this school. To accomplish this goal, students will make ten posters every two weeks containing five new English vocabulary words with Indonesian translation. These will be posted in classrooms and around the school to encourage students to read and familiarize themselves with the new vocabulary words. At the end of two weeks, a new set of vocabulary words will be posted.
“Look Around; Look at Yourself- Disability Awareness Program”

The goals of this project are to raise awareness and respect for disabled people attending these students’ school and living in their community. They hope to increase communication and understanding between the students and disabled members by inviting forty students and 150 disabled persons to an iftaar (break fast) dinner during the month of Ramadan. They will document the dinner and write a poster about it for all students who could not attend, so that they might learn about the event also.
“Computer Recycling”

The goals of this project are to provide more computers for the students of this school. With only twenty functional computers for 700 students, this project intends to collect an additional fifteen old or used computers.
To accomplish this goal, requests will be made to local companies, offices, computer stores, and parents of students to donate their old or broken computers. Those donated that are broken will be fixed by school team members, while the others will be recycled. After assessing the functioning of each computer, it will be installed in the school computer laboratory for student use.
“The Foodie Foodlers”

This project intends to increase the awareness of those without sufficient funds to obtain food. They will create an education bulletin on hunger with the intention to increase at least 100 people’s awareness, collect 100 pounds of food and distribute and serve the collected food to poor people and orphanages in ten locations.
They will create a fundraiser in their school in order to raise additional funds, as well as increase awareness. With the additional money, they will buy fresh food and “instant” food to serve at their selected locations.
“Give to the Poor, Go to Heaven”

In order to accomplish this, the students plan to collect money and supplies through their school. It is their hope that through their actions that can give hope to the poor people of their city.
“Book Collection Drive”

The goals of this project are to collect used books and text books and provide them for students in their school who cannot afford to buy the books needed for their classes. To accomplish this task the students will ask all the students in their school who have used books to donate at least 200 hundred books. The students of this project will determine, with the help of their teachers, which students are in need, and those students will be given two used books to be returned at the end of the year. Any extra books will be kept in the school library. “Motivational Poster”

The students will post a total of 30 decorated posters throughout their school, changing the content every month. The posters will include writings, sayings, verses, and quotes from respected people and texts throughout history. Students will also be allowed to add their own ideas or quotes to the posters. |
