Turning Isolation into Collaboration. VIRTUAL EXCHANGE SERIES: MEETING THE CHALLENGES OF THE TIMES

Legacy International was called on to participate in the “Baseline Assessment for Disarmament in Asia and the Pacific” Common Findings Report 2019 of the United Nations. LI was contacted due to its evidence-based peace education program, LivingSidebySide® that was implemented in 10 schools in southern Kyrgyzstan.

This summer teens from more than 15 countries will gather at our camp in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. While all around us swirls messages of hopelessness, the international youth summit brings together people who care about making this planet and our communities sustainable.

Manel Bargaoui (Legacy International Professional Fellows Program Spring 2017) is an author, teacher, mobile app manager, and pioneer advocate for the deaf and hard of hearing in Tunisia.

Through the TechGirls experience, I was able to expand my knowledge of fields like cybersecurity and Java game development. Outside of the classroom, TechGirls opened my eyes to STEM education in other countries. Through talking and connecting with girls from countries in the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia, I was able to learn about the types of STEM activities and extracurriculars offered in their communities.
